Smoothie Bowl

We’ve all heard the saying, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” So, after years of feeling sluggish in the morning and relying on coffee to get me going, I began making breakfast a necessary part of my day and I have to agree with the experts.  I can not begin to tell you how horrible I feel when I do not have breakfast now.  It completely throws everything off for me. I’m not as energetic as I like and usually end up making horrible meal choices throughout the day.

I know, I know, I should have enough discipline to eat a healthy meal, but it’s kind of hard when I’m out and about, hangry (yes, I spelled that right! Hungry+angry — have you seen those Snicker commercials?  Don’t judge…) Basically, I’m saying that I didn’t get my morning fuel.  So, Breakfast is a now mainstay in my daily routine to set me off on the right foot.  My husband always teases me and says I act like I’m about to die of hunger when I don’t eat.  Whatever… I’m not that dramatic, but… a girl needs to eat, OK! To help combat those moments, I made it a habit to have a few snacks with me at all times. Organization and preparation will always set you up for success.

This morning, I started to make my usual “go to” breakfast – a smoothie.  However, I decided that I wanted to jazz it up a little since I had extra fruit around.  I’ve been seeing smoothie bowls all over the internet and had all of the ingredients on hand.  So, I thought, “Why not?”  Boy, was it delicious and so simple to make.

I chose to make a mixed berry smoothie (just because) and grabbed my fruit from the freezer. I started with a handful of each and added more in small increments to make sure it was thick enough to hold more fruit on top.
